Increased Prevention Efforts Needed to Prevent Injuries from Window Falls

Posted on 22nd Aug 2011 @ 6:33 PM

A recent article* in the journal Pediatrics studied injuries to children from falls out of windows over a nineteen year period.  During the study years, almost 100,000 injuries from window falls were treated in US Emergency Rooms.   The average age of an injured child was about 5 years old.  The study confirmed earlier findings** that parents and other child caregivers should be counseled not to depend on screens to prevent children from falling out of windows.  To prevent these types of falls, window guards or window locks that prevent windows from opening more than 4 inches should be used.

Safe and Secure Baby has a wide selection of window guards and locks the can help to prevent window falls and decrease the likelihood of injury to children.
