No one likes to put screw holes in their fine woodwork. This wood clamp provides a means for attaching your gate to a large post or spindels without damaging the post with screws. Fits large posts up to 6 3/8 inches in thickness.

A 1/4 inch thick shim is included to compensate (if required) for post thickness so that hinge bracket may be perfectly vertical. For spindle posts it will most likely be used on the round (upper) portion of the spindle. Shim can be discarded if not needed.

It may be necessary to obtain longer or shorter bolts from a hardware store, depending on post thickness.
